WHAT: On Tuesday, Nov. 10, ten higher
education leaders, policymakers and education advocates from around the country,
will convene at the University at Albany in New York to discuss the most
pressing challenges facing higher education today such as:

The increased
role of the federal government in higher education
·
Reform prospects
of the federal financial aid system
·
College access
for an increasingly diverse student population
·
The call for
increased student retention and graduation rates
WHY: President Obama has set
ambitious goals for educational attainment by 2020, and the nation is looking
in part to U.S. colleges and universities for leadership in achieving this
mission. The administration’s renewed focus on higher education as a
cornerstone of the president’s domestic agenda gives U.S. higher education leaders
an historic opportunity for dialogue and reform. Policies such as educational access and attainment are
critical to the nation’s economic vitality and competitiveness.
